Under federal law, you may request one free copy of your credit report each year from each of the three credit reporting agencies – Experian, Transunion, and Equifax.
Did you know creditors post information to your credit report all the time, throughout the year?
Don’t get all three reports at once!
Using AnnualCreditReport.com, request a free credit report. But, if you request all three credit reports at once, more than 11 months may pass before you see any new information.
Instead, check one agency every four months, and you’ll be monitoring your credit three times a year, instead of just once. Here’s a sample schedule. Check Experian this month, Transunion in May, and Equifax in September.
